Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis is a process in which water with a very high TDS (total dissolved solids) is forced to flow through specially designed semi-permeable membranes which only allows the water molecule to pass through it, to the low concentration side. In the process, a pump is used to supply pressure to trounce the osmotic pressure forces on a membrane. RO systems specially designed semi-permeable membranes can remove almost 99% of the TDS.
